A striking chest of drawers produced by G plan circa 1960.
If you are after something a little different these may be for you. Normally this set is to be found in a quite a dark finish but we have had these stripped back to the true colour of the Tola veneers (an African Hardwood) and it has come up lovely, revealing an attractive subtly striped grain and warm hue.
Very well constructed as you would expect from G plan, rather a heavy piece for its size and excellent use of materials.
The drawer fronts have been painted using an apple green, aubergine, sky blue which compliment the Tola perfectly giving this piece of furniture a new lease of life.
The Ebonised base frame also makes a great contrast to the colours and timber giving the piece great definition with its rocket shaped legs and small Brass feet. Good storage available with three large sized drawers which run smoothly, are all of Dovetail construction and have the original brass handles. The interiors are clean and tidy, ready for use.
Condition is overall very good, the leg frame does show signs of wear but has been touched up so only visible upon closer inspection. A couple of the drawer fronts have some small indents which have been painted over, again not terribly noticeable but they are there.
The handles show some pitting to the brass, as do the feet but this should be considered as part and parcel of owning a vintage piece of furniture. All being said, on the whole they look smart and presentable and none of these points in our opinion affect the overall appearance of this fun piece of furniture!
